Marc Noll, 58, of Joplin, passed away the evening of Saturday, August 24, 2013 at home surrounded by family.

He was born to Robert and Donna Noll, Oct. 1, 1954, in Wichita, KS. Marc received a BS in Community Nutrition from Kansas State University and a MS in Nutrition from Oklahoma Central University.

He married Kim Fields in 1979, and they lived in Oklahoma City and Miami, OK before relocating to Joplin in 2003. He was a registered dietitian and diabetes educator, and he was active in his community and the Seventh Day Adventist church. After his illness prevented him from working full time he volunteered at the Joplin Community Clinic.

Marc’s faith made him an example for many. He was a constant presence of strength and service for his family and friends. He had a gift for making lasting impressions on others by his eagerness to engage them and the struggles they were facing.

Marc’s faith was also reflected in his hobbies. Since his youth he wrote and sang Christian songs on guitar. Marc also embraced God’s natural world through fishing, hiking, camping, eagle watching, and collecting fossils and drift wood. After his illness limited these activities he became enthusiastic about growing his own fruits and vegetables.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; two children, Andra Walker and her husband, Aaron, Joplin, Hank Noll and his wife, Maija, Oak Park, IL; one grandchild, Clara Walker; his mother, Donna Noll, Wichita, Kansas; three brothers, Kent Noll, Fort Collins, Colorado, Ward Noll, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Evan Noll, Hays, Kansas; and several other extended family members.

Services are planned for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Joplin. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Noll, Ward Noll and Evan Noll.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to M.D. Anderson, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
