Marilyn (Razook) Walk, our hero, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. During the last 2 1/2 years, Marilyn fought her cancer battle with courage, strength, determination and dignity everyday.

She was born April 8, 1954 in Pratt, to Fred and Mary Razook. On May 14, 1983, she and David Walk were united in marriage.

David survives her along with sisters, Dyane Razook of Los Angeles, Suzanne Razook of Denver; her beloved dogs, Jordan, Rose and Ziva; aunt and Godmother Sally David, Aunt Freeda David, Aunt Colleen David; Godfather, Jack Bayouth; sister-in-law Gloria Razook of Claremore, Okla.; nieces. nephew, cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Fred Razook Jr.

Marilyn’s passion, besides her family, was dogs. In 1994, Marilyn and David opened the first Doggy Day Care in Kansas located in Wichita. She devoted her life to her dogs and was happiest caring for, training and playing with the dogs at Doggy Day Care and at home.

Growing up in Pratt, Marilyn was a dog lover all her life. If you wanted to know where she was, you looked for Checkers, the family dog. Checkers would wait patiently on the front porch of the friend’s house where Marilyn would play. Since she was a tomboy, “Tex” was the nickname given to her, cowboy hat and all.

Marilyn had a photographic memory for all things involving numbers. In math, as in life, she knew the difference between 1/32nd of an inch and 1/64th of an inch.

Viewing will be Tuesday, May 28, from 1-5 pm at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Trisagion funeral will be held at 7 p.m. that evening, St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral, 7515 E. 13th. Graveside Trisagion is at11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Old Mission Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in memory of Marilyn Walk to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita KS, 67219.
